Intralesional steroid injections are injections of corticosteroids into the affected area. It is usually used for conditions with thickened skin and for certain types of hair loss such as, but are not limited to keloid scarring, alopecia areata and hypertrophic lichen planus. The treatment is very effective and the results are seen after a few weeks. Usually more than one session of treatment a few weeks apart is needed to obtain the best effect.
