Lentigo maligna melanoma and melanoma (also known as malignant melanoma) are serious skin cancers. They present as a changing brown/pink/skin coloured patch, changing freckle, changing mole, discolouration under the nail or a new change on an area of skin which was previously normal. The area may even bleed, crust, ooze, be itchy or be painful. LMMs and melanomas present differently in different people and can occur anywhere on the skin including the genitalia so it is important to seek medical assessment promptly if you have any concerns.
